Dear Colleagues,
Under newly implemented the WTF World Ranking System as from January 1, 2009, it has been widely found that the quality of the WTF-Sanctioned International Tournaments (“WSIT”, hereafter) have been truly improved.
Most of WSITs ensured the organization of the events in compliance with the WTF Competition Rules and the participating teams had great opportunities to experience new Rules at the WSITs before 2009 WTF World Taekwondo Championships Copenhagen. I appreciate the organizers of WSITs in the year of 2009 in this respect.
As stipulated in the Bylaw of WTF Ranking currently in force, the WTF Sports Division has been working on the evaluation of all WSITs held in 2009 jointly with the WTF Games Committee based on the report submitted by the Organizing Committee and evaluation report submitted by the Technical Delegate appointed for the pertinent event. The evaluation was made mainly for the following areas:
- Compliance with WTF Competition Rules
- The use of WTF-recognized equipment and scoring system
- Participation of national teams
- Timely submission of O/C Report
- Overall services to the teams and technical officials
- Media exposure and sponsorship
- Anti-doping activities
- Invitation of certified International Referees
- Venue and training venue facilities
- Evaluation of Technical Delegate
As a result, I am pleased to announce that it was decided to promote the following WSIT from the current G-1 category to G-2 based on its excellent scores awarded after evaluation, while US Open also stays as G-2 event.
- British International Taekwondo Tournament
- Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships
I wish to congratulate above two events and also hope that the other WSITs will be considered for the promotion to G-2 after successful organization of the 2010 events.
Please be advised that the application for WTF-sanction has to be made every year by completing the application form (attached herewith) and submitting to the WTF Sports Division at
